AIPL has a dedicated part-time staff working to support committed, energetic part-time interns who work in the community. AIPL is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and a volunteer Urban Agriculture Steering Committee.
AIPL started in 2008 when a small faith-based group attended a conference on "Caring for Creation." Soon after, interest groups formed to discuss topics on sustainability, conservation concerns, and related scriptures. An organization was formed with a volunteer Board of Directors, a nonprofit designation in 2009, and a budget of zero. Since then, AIPL has earned two grants from EPA, three grants from USDA, and a multiple of grants from local, state, national, and international levels. AIPL is grateful for the numerous individual donors who continue to make our work possible in Central Arkansas. Between 2023 and 2026, AIPL supported 67 gardens of various sizes in Faulkner County and Pulaski County. AiPL is hoping to expand its efforts into Jefferson County in the near future. AIPL has no office, preferring to serve the community by engaging weekly in the community. AIPL maintains an extremely lean budget with part-time staff, part-time interns, volunteers, and practically no overhead.
You won't find us at an office. We serve the community by showing up in the community every week.
We plant seeds in gardens. We plant fruit trees in orchards. We establish onsite compost systems.
We share knowledge about sustainable agriculture and food preservation.
We build chicken coops and greenhouses. We share surplus food in communities where we work.
PLEASE DONATE: Send your charitable tax-deductible contribution to Ark. IPL at 600 Pleasant Valley Dr., Little Rock, AR 72227.
We have wonderful stories to share about helping our neighbors learn to grow some of their own food.
